Tech Note on Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and Cable (Item # MDP-HDMI and Item # MDP-HDMI-06):

Not all computers support audio through the Mini DisplayPort. These computers supply multichannel audio (up to 8 channels) and video signals over Mini DisplayPort:

  • MacBook (Mid 2010) and later
  • MacBook Pro (Mid 2010) and later
  • Mac mini (Mid 2010)
  • iMac (Late 2009) and later
  • Mac Pro (Mid 2010)
  • Mac Pro (Early 2009) with the ATI Radeon HD 5870 video card upgrade kit

This adapter is not Bidirectional.  It can only connect a Mini-DisplayPort source to an HDMI display.  It will not support  reverse set up.

Professional Cable Mini DisplayPort cables and adapters are Thunderbolt compatible.

Note: The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and cable will support audio on Mac computers capable of outputting audio through mini-displayport.  Additional configuration may be required, results may vary depending on mac model and OSX version installed
